Quality Audit and Auditor Training – November 2008 About the Workshop The workshop offers a full two-day program led by AUQA staff. The workshop uses a mix of plenary presentation and discussion sessions and small group role-play exercises to explore various aspects of quality audit and of the AUQA audit method. The focus of this workshop will be on the approach to auditing under cycle 2 for universities and the method of auditing non self-accrediting institutions. The workshop is attended by AUQA Auditors as a pre-requisite for appointment to AUQA's Register of honorary auditors and, subject to capacity, fee-paying participants with an interest in quality audits. The costs of honorary auditors (travel within Australia, accommodation) will be covered by AUQA. In previous workshops the participants in the fee-based category have included Deputy and/or Pro Vice-Chancellors, university academic staff and representatives from non self-accrediting institutions responsible for drafting the performance portfolio, quality managers and industry representatives. A chapter of an actual institutional Performance Portfolio is used as the basis of discussion in small groups, and participants simulate the tasks of an audit panel - analysing the Portfolio and identifying audit trails; obtaining evidence through interviews; and synthesising information to reach conclusions. Participants will be requested to undertake pre-workshop readings in order to gain maximum benefit during the two-day workshop. The workshop program also includes sessions exploring:
