Auditor Training Workshop – November 2006

About the Workshop

The workshop offers a full two-day program led by AUQA staff and involving AUQA auditors and external stakeholders. The workshop uses a mix of plenary discussion sessions and small group role-play exercises to explore various aspects of quality audit and of the AUQA audit method. The workshop was attended by 30 participant, 11 of who were in-coming AUQA Honorary Auditors, 5 of the participant were from overseas with an interest in quality audits.

An extract of an actual university Performance Portfolio is used as the basis of discussion in small groups, and participants simulate the tasks of an audit panel - analysing the Portfolio and identifying audit trails; identifying methods to further investigate the audit trails; obtaining evidence through interviews; and synthesising information to reach conclusions.

The workshop program also includes sessions exploring:

  • AUQA’s background and context
  • Audit scope, focus and the various phases of an audit
  • The National Protocols
  • auditing international activities and on-line activities
  • responsibilities of audit panel members (including the Chair)
  • techniques of effective interviewing
  • using measures and evidence
