Learning From Cycle 1 AUQA Audits

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP / PURPOSE

The purpose of this workshop is to share and discuss learning from Cycle 1 AUQA Audits with an emphasis on preparing for Cycle 2.

TARGETED PARTICIPANTS

In 2007, AUQA completed the first cycle of audits of self-accrediting institutions (SAIs) and accreditation agencies. Cycle 2 of SAI audits commenced in 2008. Feedback from last year’s pre-Forum workshop suggests that there is a continuing desire by quality practitioners to discuss their experiences in connection with AUQA audits, especially about the ways to address the new emphases of Cycle 2, including the formal requirement on auditees to report on ‘Outcomes since Cycle 1’ and against selected themes. This workshop is designed to help meet these needs by focusing on the lessons learned from Cycle 1 audits.

It is anticipated that this topic would be of interest to institutional staff with responsibilities for AUQA audits and/or for the implementation and reporting of quality assurance programs within their organisation. It is anticipated that there will be about 40 participants, who will be surveyed prior to the Workshop in order to identify:

• Cycle 1 audit preparatory strategies that worked well;
• Cycle 1 audit preparatory strategies that didn’t work; and
• In the light of what was learned fromCycle 1, what advice would you give for those preparing for an audit in Cycle 2?

The data collected from participants will be reported and discussed during the Workshop, which will be co-facilitated by Professor Geoff Scott, PVC Quality, UWS, and Mr. Rob Carmichael, Audit Director, AUQA.
